How do you make new friends?
I get this question a lot and it got me thinking. This topic could go in so many ways but for today I will keep thing simple!
I have noticed over the last decade that we as a society have withdrawn into our own little digital worlds.
I will explain what I mean. The other day I went out to get some milk and a few items from the local food store. I do the usual thing as I make my way to the dairy section but always survey my surroundings.
I noticed just about everyone was on their phone in some way by texting, or what ever else they do. Even the kids were occupied with their gadgets!
I will get into this subject in more detail in a later email or training video. I remember back in middle school, that’s when our personalities really start to develop who we are.
I had this science teacher that was one of the nicest and crazy guys out of all the other teachers. His name was Mr. Faulk and if I learned anything from this man it was to stand proud, no matter your differences, color, height, or shoe size.
The one thing that made his word stick with me all these years is that one day he took out his eye-ball and placed it on his desk. Needless to say we were all freaked out by this but later started to laugh.
We had learned to stand with pride our heads up and a smile on our faces. I don’t remember much about science from Mr. Faulk but I do remember how to stand straight and say hi, my name is Robert Solomon how are you today?
The next time you are at the store look around and you will see what I mean! I also what you to say hello to three people, standing in line for lunch meat or deciding what bag of noodles you want. Put your phone away and say Hi.
Robert G Solomon
